Originally built for factory use in 1931, this amalgamation of three different brick, timber and cast iron interconnected buildings comprising 65,000 square feet was recently transformed into the new home of APEX Technical School, a renowned NYC vocational high school and training facility. CCM was contracted to perform the highly specialized base building and tenant fit out which included all new utilities; gas, water, electric, fire protection, and storm, as well as compressed air, air and water purification systems, welding stations, spray booths, car lifts and state of the art classroom facilities. In addition to the new infrastructure and interior elements, extensive structural work was required to accommodate new stairs, elevators, and rooftop HVAC equipment as well as the construction of a new 8,000 square foot annex building.
